Carlsberg Britvic is celebrating the 50-year anniversary of one its East London factory employees, Mohammad Shafaq.
To mark Shafaq’s incredible service, the Beckton team was joined by MP for West Ham and Beckton, James Asser, Shafaq’s friends and family, and colleagues from across the business, including VP Production Nigel Paine and Carlsberg Britvic CEO Paul Davies.
Shafaq began work in 1975 as a Production Operative working double day shifts before moving to the night shift two years later where he has spent the majority of the last 48 years. Along the way he has enjoyed a variety of roles including Night Shift Chargehand (1980), Lubrication Operator (1981), Acting Night Shift Supervisor (1987), Cleaning Supervisor (1988), Specialist Trainer (1989) and Team Coordinator (2000).
As a truly dedicated employee, Shafaq is an incredible asset to the team at Beckton. He is known by everyone for his warm and friendly nature, as a real problem solver, and for being such an upstanding member of the community. He has seen Britvic and its manufacturing technology evolve a huge amount in the time he has dedicated to the business.
Mohammed Shafaq, Team Technician, said: “I started working at Britvic in February 1975. It wasn’t called Britvic at the time. It was known as R White Rawlings, and I spent the first two years working the double day shift. It was in 1977 that I first started working on the night shift and here we are 50 years later.
“Britvic has always been a great place to work, which is why I have remained here for so long. The people at Britvic make it a great place to work and that includes all my colleagues and team leaders.
“It has been an amazing 50 years and thank you to everyone for being here with me. I truly appreciate Britvic marking my 50 years anniversary.”
Shafaq’s brother, Mohammad Ikhlaq, is also part of the Beckton team – with an amazing 35 years of dedicated service to the business to celebrate.
The factory boasts six production lines, manufacturing popular soft drinks including Tango, 7UP, Pepsi MAX and Robinsons.
