A Surrey cat charity is offering a cut-priced deal on neutering and microchipping in a bid to reduce unwanted pregnancies.
Ahead of kitten season, Cats Protection’s Sutton, Kingston and District Branch is teaming up with the charity’s Mitcham Homing Centre to provide both services for just £10 during their Snip and Chip Week (19-26 March).
Cats Protection believes neutering is an essential part of responsible cat ownership and recommends that cats and kittens are neutered from around four months of age.
Neutering offers benefits to cats and owners alike. As well as preventing unwanted pregnancies, neutering can reduce the risk of some cancers and help to stop the spread of FIV ((feline immunodeficiency virus). A neutered cat is also less likely to stray, spray or fight.
During lockdown, many cats missed out on being neutered as vets reduced non-essential care.
Stella Fenwick, Sutton branch co-ordinator, said: “We are very excited to restart our snip and chip campaign after we had to stop during the first lockdown. It’s a valuable part of the work we do to support cats and their owners in our community.”
Microchipping is a safe method of identification and means that if a cat goes missing it is more likely to be reunited with its owner, often thanks to the dedication of teams at Cats Protection.
Cat owners interested in the chip and snip offer from 19-26 March (11am-3pm) should contact the charity on 0300 012 0285 (option 5) to book their appointment with a local vet.
