Celebrating the best gardeners in Royal Greenwich

Congratulations to this year’s winners of Greenwich in Bloom for being recognised as the best gardeners in the borough!

The annual awards sponsored by the Thompson Garden Centre celebrate the people in our community who work to bring colour and vibrancy to their gardens and neighbourhoods. The competition was judged by Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities and the Mayor of Royal Greenwich Councillor Dominic Mbang across five categories including: best front garden, back garden, communal garden, container and junior gardener.

On Monday 2 October, the Mayor hosted an award presentation in his town hall parlour to the winners of each category who received an award and voucher to Thompsons Garden Centre of up to £60.

Councillor Khaireh said: “A big congratulations to all of this year’s winners for creating and maintaining some wonderful gardens. The standard was so high this year we could not limit our winners to three places – and for the first time, we’ve added fourth place winners in two categories!

“Gardening is such a great activity for our community members to take part in. Not only does it help add vibrancy to our borough, but taking part can also help to improve residents’ physical and mental wellbeing. Thank you to Thompsons Garden Centre for sponsoring the awards, I’m excited to see the winners using their vouchers to upgrade their gardens even more!”
