TV presenter Davina McCall, and chefs Lorraine Pascale and Ainsley Harriott are amongst the celebrities calling for the nation to put the kettle on and host a Brew Together fundraising event in April to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK.
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and this year Bowel Cancer UK is hoping more people than ever will get involved. Held at home, in your local community or at work, it’s a chance to catch up with friends, family and colleagues over a cup of tea and make a donation to Bowel Cancer UK to help stop people dying of the disease by funding vital services and lifesaving research.
Hoping to inspire fundraisers, celebrities including Davina McCall, Tony Singh MBE, Ainsley Harriott, Lorraine Pascale, Sue Lawrence, and former Great British Bake Off contestant Martha Collison have donated their favourite recipes to have with a brew. These mouth-watering creations include: chocolate drop scones, Maltesers cupcakes, bread and butter pudding, Bollywood bar and blueberry and almond muffins.
TV Presenter and creator of ‘Own Your Goals’ Davina McCall said: “I’m proud to be supporting Bowel Cancer UK’s Brew Together. It’s really simple gather your family and friends, put the kettle on and your donations will ensure Bowel Cancer UK can continue to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by the disease. My blueberry and almond cupcakes are guaranteed to go down a treat with your Brew Together guests.”
Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, with over 42,000 people diagnosed with the disease every year. More than 16,000 people die from bowel cancer every year in the UK, however the disease is treatable and curable especially if diagnosed early.
Luke Squires, Director of Fundraising at Bowel Cancer UK, said: “Bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer but with your help we can change that. All you need to do is take an hour out of your day to hold a Brew Together event, catch-up over a cup of tea or coffee and the money you raise will help fund vital services and lifesaving research to stop people dying of the disease.”
