Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK — a hard reality that highlights the need for everyday spaces where men feel able to talk openly. Located in the heart of Wembley Park, one of London’s busiest event destinations with a high proportion of male visitors, London Designer Outlet (LDO) is stepping up. In partnership with Talk Club, the UK’s leading mental fitness charity, they are launching Talk & Trim — a bold, story-led initiative that transforms the barbershop experience into a space for conversation.

Opening exclusively on Saturday 17th 11am to 5pm during the high-profile FA Cup Final weekend, Talk & Trim will turn LDO’s Cube Space into a vibrant barbershop experience – the perfect place to get a fresh shape and perspective ahead of the big match.

At the heart of Talk & Trim is Talk Club’s signature check-in: “How are you? Out of 10?” This simple yet powerful question – proven to improve mental wellbeing by over 15% – unlocks conversations that help build resilience, connection, and emotional self-awareness.

Fronting the styling talent is celebrity barber A Star (Ahmed), joined by a team of professional barbers. A Star is best known for shaping the image of football icons like Eden Hazard, Jack Grealish, Jude Bellingham, Reece James, and more, A Star brings his signature style and purpose to Wembley for something far more meaningful. Together, they’ll be offering free shape-ups from 11am to 5pm.

All barbers including A Star have completed Talk Club’s “Captain” training, equipping them with the tools to lead and support meaningful dialogue in the chair.

Guests are invited to walk in for a free trim on a first-come, first-served basis, with the option to make donation to support Talk Club’s vital work. Walk-ins only & donations optional via contactless.

“Talk Club is all about being where men are. And men are in Barbershops. They have always been places where men open up – so this idea simply gives that tradition more structure, more purpose, and more support,” says Ben Akers, co-founder of Talk Club. “Talk & Trim isn’t just about shape-ups; it’s about shaping a new culture where men are encouraged to speak honestly and often. What’s said in the chair stays in the chair.”

In a major step toward long-term impact, the weekend will also mark the launch of the first Talk & Listen group in Wembley; a free, ongoing community space where men can continue the conversation. This milestone supports LDO’s mission to become the UK’s first mentally healthy shopping centre.

“At London Designer Outlet, we believe a truly great shopping experience goes beyond stores and services, it’s about creating a community where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered,” says Michelle D’Vaz-Plant, Head of Marketing at London Designer Outlet.

“We’re committed to raising awareness around male suicide prevention and supporting mental wellbeing. Through our events, spaces, and charity partnerships, we aim to build a culture of care and connection.”
