Centre for Sight launches Eye Health MOT for over-40s in London

Centre for Sight, the UK’s leading trusted centre of excellence for advanced eye care, has launched a new Eye Health MOT service for people aged 40 and over, offering a detailed, consultant-led assessment designed to provide reassurance and detect early signs of eye disease before symptoms appear.

The launch comes amid growing public focus on eye health and vision standards for drivers, with many people questioning whether their sight is as strong as it should be and whether there may be underlying issues developing unnoticed.

The Eye Health MOT is not a DVLA eyesight test, but a proactive clinical evaluation using advanced diagnostic technology to identify early signs of conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular disease and corneal problems, supporting timely intervention and long-term eye health planning.

Mr Sheraz Daya, Founder and Medical Director at Centre for Sight, said:
“Many people assume that if they can still read and drive, their eyes must be healthy but that isn’t always the case. Our Eye Health MOT is designed to give patients confidence and peace of mind, using some of the most advanced diagnostic testing available to detect early changes and guide the right next steps. It’s about helping people stay in control of their eye health, rather than waiting for problems to develop.”

Much like a full-body health check, the Eye Health MOT gives patients a clear and detailed picture of their current eye health, with results reviewed by expert clinicians who understand the realities of early detection and preventative care.

The assessment is particularly suited to those who want reassurance, have noticed changes in their vision, have a family history of eye conditions, or simply want a thorough clinical baseline for the future.

Each Eye Health MOT includes a detailed vision assessment and consultation with a Centre for Sight consultant ophthalmologist, supported by advanced diagnostic screening. Testing includes vision checks at distance, intermediate and near, as well as full refraction and a visual field test to assess peripheral vision and identify potential early indicators of glaucoma or neurological concerns.

Patients also benefit from advanced imaging and diagnostic testing, including corneal scanning with keratoconus screening, optical quality analysis, OCT scans of the macula and optic nerve, and ultra-widefield retinal imaging, providing a comprehensive view of both central and peripheral retina health.

Eye pressure and corneal thickness are measured as part of glaucoma risk assessment, followed by a dilated examination and full consultant review, with recommendations provided where clinically appropriate. Following the appointment, patients receive a detailed Eye Health Report, which can be kept for personal records or shared with other healthcare professionals.

The Eye Health MOT is particularly suitable for patients aged 40 or over who want reassurance about their eye health, have concerns following recent DVLA-related media coverage, have a family history of eye conditions, or would benefit from a calm, thorough and consultant-led assessment.
