On 20th November 2023, over 140 CEOs and business leaders (many from the hospitality industry) gave up their warm beds to spend the night sleeping outdoors at Lord’s Cricket Ground for CEO Sleepout London and raised an incredible £228,000 (and counting) for local charities, supporting people facing homelessness this winter.
Almost 80,000 households in England are reported to have contacted their local council between January and March 2023 because they were homeless or at risk of homelessness – the highest number since records began in 2018* and with these rising stats and the recent comments from now ex-Home Secretary, Suella Braverman’s reference to “lifestyle choice” when referring to the homeless, raising funds to support homelessness has never been more vital.
Henrik Muehle, Managing Director of Flemings Mayfair Hotel and London Corporate Ambassador for CEO Sleepout topped the fundraising leader board, personally securing over £22,500 in donations for his chosen charity: Charity Begins at Home. Many other prominent hospitality figures also took part last night including Martin Williams, CEO of Rare Restaurants; Edoardo Minoli of The Birley Clubs (COO); Vijay Sana, General Manager of Hutong, plus a number of leaders at Caprice Holdings including Dylan Ramsay (Commercial Finance Director) George Jones (Group Executive Director) Jon Davis (Chief Technology Officer), and Una O’Reilly, (Group Chief of People).
CEO Sleepout has partnered with local charities SHP, Walking with The Wounded, Charity Begins at Home, Only a Pavement Away, Depaul UK and Haircuts For Homeless, ensuring the vast majority of funds raised stay in the London area to support people facing homelessness this winter.
Since CEO Sleepout was founded in 2013, events across the UK have raised £4.2 million, with funds being donated to charities across the UK.
