Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace and adidas Originals came together on Saturday evening to celebrate the 1970s, with a one-night only immersive roller skating experience and the release of exclusive customised products in limited quantities. The Evening Dedicated to the Spectacular ‘70s’ event, took place at Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace London featuring live performances by Chaka Khan, Olivia Dean, the London Community Gospel Choir, and TJ Mizell (son of Run DMC’s Jam Master Jay).
The event took guests including the likes of Mel C, Rita Ora, Taika Watiti, Alice Dellal, Warren Brown, Anna Woolhouse, Dynamo, Jo Hartley, Charlie Craggs, Lava LaRue, Abby Roberts and Rhian Teasdale on a journey through the explosive music and entertainment scenes of the 1970s, a time that was so influential to the origin story of Flipper’s and adidas. Alongside an exclusive look at the adidas originals & Flippers products including a customised tracksuit, hat and accessories all styled with the iconic adidas originals shoe of the era, the SL72.
Olivia Dean, who shared the stage with Chaka Khan on the night said, ‘It’s been a bit of a pinch me moment to be honest, only a brand like adidas could bring together two seventies icons like Chaka Khan and Flippers’. Speaking on her recent tour in North America, she continued ‘Being able to share my album with so many people, and seeing them sing it back to me has been pure magic – I feel very lucky’.
Following the event, adidas and Flipper’s will release exclusive products in limited quantities that pay homage to their rich histories and the ‘70s. The product will be dropping on the 7th of December at the adidas Originals flagship store on London’s Carnaby Street, with an exclusive event between 3-7pm. Following this product will also be available in the Pro Shop at Flipper’s London and on flippers.world from the 15th of December.
