To launch the new factual drama, Partygate, which tells the inside story of when staff at Number 10 kicked back to a string of illegal parties during lockdown, Channel 4 threw a house party of its own at parliamentary hotspots, but this time… everyone’s invited.
Roving through central London in a pimped out white van, passing Houses of Parliament, the rave saw DJ BJ spinning the decks, while a flurry of pseudo politicians and Civil Servants joined in, obnoxiously two stepping to the blaring tunes.
From dancing, brie and “ambushed” cake, the celebration embodied the spirit of the factual drama, Partygate, which is based on the shocking events within Downing Street during the pandemic, whilst many across the nation endured hardship and sacrifice in isolation.
From the creators of BAFTA-winning dramas such as “Killed by my Debt,” “The Left Behind,” and “Murdered by my Father,” Partygate promises to provide a thought-provoking and timely exploration of a nation’s response to crisis.
Amber Kirby, Marketing Director from Channel 4, comments: “To celebrate the launch of the anticipated factual drama, we decided to advertise Partygate like the illegal house party it was. But with one difference… this time, everyone was invited! Capturing the illicit revelry which starkly contrasts the realities faced by the UK public during the pandemic, our roving rave complete with DJ Boris and his band of supporters, was our way of showing Channel 4’s commitment to innovative storytelling and creating change through entertainment.”
Rita Daniels, Commissioning Editor (Factual) at Channel 4 comments: “We are excited to bring ‘Partygate’ to our audiences. This gripping factual drama, backed by meticulous research, will delve deep into the events within Downing Street during the pandemic. With an outstanding cast we aim to present an engaging and thought-provoking narrative that reflects the stark realities faced by the country while some of those in power indulged in revelry.”
Stream or watch Partygate live at 9.30pm on Channel 4, Tuesday 3rd October 2023.
