Chatsworth Infant School in Sidcup, part of The Pioneer Academy Trust, has received a glowing Ofsted report following an inspection in January 2025.
The infant school, which educates children from ages 3 to 7, has been praised by inspectors for being a “welcoming and inclusive school community”.
Ofsted highlighted that “pupils are eager to attend every day” and “excited about learning new skills and knowledge alongside their friends”.
Inspectors noted that “adults know pupils well and show genuine care for them”, praising the “deep sense of belonging” which helps pupils to feel safe.
Ofsted also recognised that “pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), achieve very well across the curriculum”.
Chatsworth Infant School was rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2019. While this latest inspection (from January 2025) was ungraded, Ofsted makes clear that the evidence gathered suggests that “the school’s work may have improved significantly across all areas since the previous inspection”. This means the school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.
Other highlights from the January 2025 report include:
Pupils’ behaviour is “excellent, in and out of lessons”.
Pupils “appreciate the range of clubs that are provided to them, including, for instance, performing arts, sports clubs and board games club”.
The curriculum is “well established in all subjects” and “the school has expertly woven knowledge and skills through different subjects”.
The school’s approach to developing early reading is “highly effective” with pupils learning to read “very well” as a result.
Pupils learn how to look after their own mental and physical well-being. For example, pupils are taught to be mindful and learn breathing techniques to help them feel calm.
The trust provides strong support to both leaders and staff and governors work diligently to oversee the school’s progress.
Staff are “incredibly proud” to be part of the school team.
Cathy Kinsley, Head of School at Chatsworth Infant School, said:
“We are all delighted that this report reflects our nurturing school community and our accomplished pupils.
“Thank you to all our staff for continuing to uphold the highest standards so that we can provide the best educational experience possible for every child.
“I also want to thank all the parents and carers for their ongoing support. We look forward to continuing to support all pupils to achieve their full potential in a safe and happy environment.”
