‘Chilly Sea Dip’ Events Raise Over £21,000 Nationwide

Colleagues and homeowners from McCarthy Stone communities have raised more than £21,000 through a series of brave “Chilly Sea Dip” fundraising events held across the UK raising money for the McCarthy Stone Foundation.

Events took place in Bournemouth, Southend-on-Sea, Hunstanton and Llandudno, where more than 250 participants either braved the sea or gathered to show their support from the shore. Each location brought its own unique atmosphere, with sunshine and live music in Bournemouth and creative fancy dress costumes in Hunstanton and Llandudno, including colleagues dressed as lobsters, penguins and bumblebees. Dippers enjoyed a hot drink and home baked cakes on the shore after the cold plunge, served by volunteers.

The sense of community extended even further, with McCarthy Stone homeowners in Southend organising their own fundraising dip while abroad, ensuring they could still take part in the initiative.

To date, the events have raised just over £9,000 in donations, which increases to more than £21,000 when combined with match funding from McCarthy Stone and Gift Aid contributions.

Funds raised will support the Foundation’s ongoing work to improve the health and wellbeing of older people across the UK, helping to tackle loneliness and build stronger, more connected communities.

A spokesperson for the McCarthy Stone said – “We are incredibly proud to see our communities come together across the country for this year’s Chilly Sea Dip events. From colleagues to homeowners and supporters, the sense of energy, connection and shared purpose has been truly inspiring.”

The Foundation also extended its thanks to event organisers, volunteers, bakers and supporters who helped make the events a success.
