E-ACT City Heights Academy in Tulse Hill recently welcomed 41 Chinese students and six teachers for a morning of cultural exchange, giving the visitors a real taste of life at a British school. The visit, organised by ECE, provided a platform for both City Heights students and their international guests to get to know each other and learn about life in different cultures.
The visiting students joined City Heights pupils in lessons such as chemistry, Spanish and PE, where they experienced the teaching styles in an English school firsthand. Later, the group enjoyed a special lunch prepared by City Heights, which offered a warm and welcoming environment for the visitors to build relationship with their City Heights peers.
The experience left a lasting impression on the Chinese students, who shared their thoughts on their time at the academy. One student said:
“Everyone here is very kind and friendly. We played basketball with students and had fun together. I won’t forget the time I spent with City Heights’ students.”
Another commented:
“I was afraid that I couldn’t catch up with the students here. But they are like the teachers – carefully and nicely talking to us. They use smiles to warm our heart. It’s one of the most special experiences I have ever had.”
The visitors also expressed their enthusiasm for the food served in the school canteen, with one student saying:
“I like the food best. Even though our high school’s meal is tasty, I still prefer City Heights’ food more. I really like the comfortable atmosphere.”
Marvin Charles, Headteacher at E-ACT City Heights Academy, said:
“It was a pleasure to host our visitors from China and share a glimpse of what makes City Heights special. Cultural exchanges like this are invaluable for broadening horizons and encouraging understanding between different communities. We’re proud to provide opportunities that enrich the experiences of our students and create positive experiences for all involved.”
The visit was made possible through ECE, an award-winning organisation based in Chislehurst. ECE specialises in creating bespoke educational and cultural programmes that bring international groups together for enriching learning experiences.
