This year’s Stagecoach Summer Showcase at Guildford G-Live is shaping up to be the biggest and best ever with some remarkable coincidences thrown into the mix too!
Evangeline Chitty, a 16 year old Stagecoach Twickenham student from Hampton Court, has been cast in the lead role of Truly Scrumptious, and yes, her surname really is Chitty!
Not only this, but both of Evangeline’s parents, Sarah and Will Chitty, run separate Stagecoach’s and are professional actors too!
Evangeline started attending Stagecoach when she was just 4 years old, and it was this supportive and creative community that has given her the confidence to step into a lead role of a musical that shares her family’s name!
Eve’s performing arts journey has been rich and varied. Alongside her acting and singing training at Stagecoach, she has amassed an enviable list of professional credits, recently performing in The West End Charity Gala for the NSPCC, singing alongside West End stars and the Laine Theatre Arts Choir.
Eve’s Mum and Principal Sarah is so proud of her daughter’s achievements:
‘It’s a full-circle moment for her. Eve’s Stagecoach journey began in the most heartwarming way. As her parents, being Principal’s at Stagecoach we truly are the Stagecoach Chitty family! Eve’s first-ever musical showcase was playing one of the Von Trapp children in The Sound of Music at the Rose Theatre, Kingston. Now, years later, she returns to the stage starring in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Truly Scrumptious, a perfect match in name and spirit!’
Eve, now in the final stages of rehearsals, is so excited for opening night:
‘I’ve grown up surrounded by theatre, music, and film, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. Playing Truly Scrumptious is a dream role for me and I can’t wait to get on stage and show everyone how wonderful this production is!’
Whether her casting was pure coincidence or fate we will never know but one thing is for sure, that a Truly Scrumptious performance can be seen on stage at G-Live from the 15th August.
This summer, the Showcase returns bigger, bolder, and more inspiring than ever – featuring a spectacular new production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at G-Live in Guildford on the 15th and 16th August. With an industry-leading creative team, and the next generation of rising stars, plus there’s a full-size mechanical car in it too, how can you miss it?
Whether you’re a parent, a fan of musical theatre, or simply looking for a feel-good family experience this summer, this is the show that will steal your heart.
Tickets are available now — and they’re going fast.
