On Tuesday 15 November, Christmas by the River (the capital’s much-loved festive experience) will return to London Bridge City for its eighth year.
Taking place alongside the River Thames, with the iconic city skyline as a backdrop, Christmas by the River incorporates several locations including – The Scoop, Hay’s Galleria and The Pier.
Running until 2 January, it includes a traditional Christmas market as well as a variety of free activities (including outdoor film screenings, choir performances and community activations).
From fairy-lit wooden cabins, market traders showcase a range of hand-crafted items, as well as festive fayre to sustain shoppers. An eclectic mix of permanent restaurants, bars, cafes and shops enhance the pop-up Christmas offer.
Down at The Pier, the outdoor screen will be showing a range of family-friendly festive films on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Wrap up warm and watch Home Alone, Elf, The Muppet Christmas Carol and more.
Nothing says Christmas like a good sing-song, so friends can get together to join Pop Choir, Mind and Soul, Nunhead Community Choir and Choir&Ko as they sing to raise money for London Bridge City’s 2022 Charity Partner, Bliss.
Christmas by the River will also feature several community activations. A collaboration with Team London Bridge will see a lantern procession featuring children from nearby schools. A charity stall will raise money for good causes like the British Heart Foundation, Edible Rotherhithe and Prostate Cancer UK. A further two market stalls will play host to social enterprises including Handmade Stories, Mixy Fandino Ltd, Inside Job Coffee, Birdsong London, Secret Projects and TERN.
Two pop-up bars (The Riverside Lodge at The Scoop and Bar Reflexion at The Pier) will serve up a selection of festive drinks.
Christmas by the River will also be the winter selfie hotspot courtesy of its iconic London backdrop, a must- see Christmas tree in Hay’s Galleria and an enchanting, animal-inspired light installation by The Scoop.
This is Christmas by the River 2022… where ice-cool views come served with a very warm welcome.
