With 92 sleeps until the big day, John Lewis is officially switching on the festive feeling as its much-anticipated Christmas Shop opens in stores nationwide today, Wednesday 24 September 2025.

This year marks John Lewis’ biggest ever Christmas Shop – with more than 1.1 million crackers set to be pulled, enough to stretch further than the London Marathon 40 times, and 70km of garlands ready to decorate homes from Oxford Street to Windsor Castle.

Lisa Cherry, Head of Christmas at John Lewis, says: “This year we are seeing customers bring real personality to how they decorate their homes. From playful baubles with faces to bold stripes and nostalgic character decorations – the joy is mixing tradition with a twist. We’ve invested more than ever before in our Christmas decorations, gifts and experiences this year so customers can create magical moments that feel uniquely theirs.”

2025 trends:

This year marks John Lewis’ biggest ever Christmas Shop, with sales of greenery forecast to rise by +25% and our tallest ever 10ft Christmas tree available for customers going supersized. Charlie Murray, Christmas Buyer, shares what is trending for Christmas 2025:

Personality, not perfection – We’re making mantle pieces and trees more personal than ever. Alphabet stockings and initial baubles are up 185% year on year, while characterful, and alternative ornaments (think custard cream, espresso martini and kitchen scales) top baskets.
Mini-to-maxi styling – Stripes and harlequin patterns are the statement prints of 2025, bringing a playful sense of theatre to trees and tables. Taking it to the max, staircase styling and mantel-scaping return big; pre lit trees remain heroes, including a new 10ft model for customers going supersized.
Nostalgia reigns supreme – Customers are evoking the magic of Christmas past with sales of retro-nostalgia ornaments – such as our Vinyl Record Player and Retro TV – up by 293% year on year.

2025 themes:

John Lewis’ expert buying teams have curated four themes for Christmas 2025, each designed to bring depth and meaning. Heirloom Splendour celebrates elegance with pastel palettes, champagne gold accents, stripes, gingham and hand-crafted details – including the first-ever pre-lit gold tree.

Enchanting Tales draws on the drama of theatre and pantomime with jewel tones, harlequin prints and intricate beadwork. Worldly Treasures captures the spirit of travel with eclectic colours, animal decorations and an exclusive collaboration with MADE51, while Ancient Wonders takes inspiration from the natural world with rich metallics, frost blues and mythical creatures from mammoths to yetis.

Newness:

Alongside four new curated themes, John Lewis is also launching over 58 boxed bauble sets and exclusive collaborations, including:
Netflix Stranger Things: An exclusive range of decorations including a walkie-talkie, torch and pizza van, plus Lewis Bear dressed in his own Stranger Things jumper.
Sara Miller London: A collection of individual and boxed baubles designed by British designer Sara Miller, well-known for her playful print and vibrant patterns.
Quality Street: Introducing new limited-edition tree decorations – tins “through the ages”.
MADE51 (UNHCR): Each handmade tree decoration celebrates the stories, cultures, and craftsmanship of refugee artisans.

Teddy Bear repair:

For the first time, John Lewis will be offering a brand new service restoring beloved teddy bears and soft toys. In partnership with Johnsons, part of the Timpsons group, customers will be able to bring in their beloved soft toy (from any brand) that may have seen better days to any John Lewis shop and over 200 Waitrose shops. From a deep clean, teddy tidy and any minor repairs – pre-loved teddies with tales to tell become the perfect re-gifted present.
