Deliveries of cinema food will soon be available through the Uber Eats app in partnership with leading cinema chain Curzon, for those who want to recreate the experience of going to the cinema in their living room.
According to Curzon data, the lockdown has prompted a 380% rise in the number of people streaming movies at home, with French-language dramas The Truth and Portrait of a Lady on Fire among the top choices for film lovers.
Meanwhile, a poll of 2,000 people showed that the lockdown has meant that Brits are watching 12 more films per month than they normally would, with 28% using the lockdown as a chance to get up to speed with arthouse and foreign fare.
While almost seven out of ten (69%) people in the UK have watched a film with subtitles, some 20% of those did so for the very first time during the lockdown, suggesting that people are using this time to explore a wider range of cinema.
What’s more, the UK poll answered – once and for all – the question of the nation’s favourite popcorn flavour, with sweet emerging as the victor with 25% of votes, followed by caramel (23%) and salted (17%).
Of all the things that Brits miss most about the cinema, popcorn and snacks came top (51% miss this), ahead of the fact everyone has their phone turned off (19%).
The home cinema kits, available via the Uber Eats app, contain everything you need to make home movie nights more magical, and they’re available for just a £3.50 delivery fee by using the promotional code HOMECINEMA.
