This half term, London Designer Outlet (LDO) is inviting families to discover the surprising birdlife of London with “Birds of the City” – a free, interactive trail where children follow clues, spot colourful birds around the centre and unlock rewards.

Running across the half term, the centre-wide experience encourages children to explore, learn and play, while families enjoy a full day out combining creativity, discovery and great value shopping and dining.

Inspired by growing national interest in birdlife with over 600,000 people taking part in the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch each year; the activation taps into a rising curiosity around the wildlife living alongside us in everyday city spaces, connecting families through shared outdoor experiences.

A SPRING TRAIL WITH A TWIST
Building on LDO’s much-loved Birds of Paradise trail, families can follow a colourful route around the outlet, spotting bird characters, solving clues and exploring different parts of the centre along the way.

Once completed, children unlock a special reward – the LDO Seed Bar at Guest Services, where they can scoop their own bird seed mix to take home and help feed birds in their local area. Families can also take part in a free origami bird craft activity, where children can colour, fold and create their own birds to take home.

According to Big Smoke Birding, a London-based urban birding community, many of the UK’s most familiar species including robins, house sparrows and starlings are thriving in city environments, as wildlife continues to adapt to life alongside people.

How to take part: Families can take part by heading to London Designer Outlet in Wembley Park and collecting a free trail sheet from Guest Services. After completing the trail, children can visit the Seed Bar to collect their bird seed mix.

A DAY OUT THAT DELIVERS VALUE
Running alongside the activation, LDO’s Families Eat for Less initiative will spotlight value-led dining offers across the centre’s restaurants, making it easier for families to enjoy a full day out without the full price tag.

Combined with up to 70% off RRP (and up to 85% during sales) across leading brands, the activation reinforces LDO as a destination where families can spend quality time together while enjoying great value.

Michelle D’vaz-plant, Head of Marketing at London Designer Outlet, says: “This half term, we wanted to create something that feels joyful, engaging and rooted in the world around us. ‘Birds of the City’ is about helping families discover the nature that exists all around them – even in busy urban spaces like Wembley.

At the same time, there’s something really special about the idea of movement and migration; birds travelling across places and seasons, much like the mix of people who come together at LDO every day. It’s a reminder of how shared spaces can bring different journeys together.

By combining a free trail, creative activities and great value dining and shopping, we’re creating a day out that feels both fun and meaningful for families.”

Beyond the trail, families can make the most of everything Wembley Park has to offer across the holidays, from open public spaces and interactive art to a wide range of dining and entertainment options. With plenty to see, do and explore, London Designer Outlet is perfectly placed for a full half-term day out that combines fresh air, creativity and great value.

For even more rewards, guests can sign up to the One Wembley Park Rewards Club, unlocking exclusive offers, discounts and VIP experiences.
