After its success in February, Ealing Broadway’s free Clothes Swap will be retuning next weekend (25th/26th May).
The event, which will take place next to Flying Tiger Copenhagen, is run in partnership with Love Not Landfill and will provide locals with a sustainable way to recycle old or unwanted clothes in return for new pre-loved items.
After receiving donations on Saturday, the team will transform the space into a shop for visitors to browse having been given a maximum of five tokens to spend on updating their wardrobes sustainably on the Sunday.
Timings for the weekend’s events are as follows:
Saturday 25th May 10:00am-4:00pm: Drop off clothes at the swap point next to Flying Tiger and pick up a maximum of five tokens.
Sunday 26th May 10:00am-4:00pm: Visitors can come back, browse items and cash in their tokens for new pre-loved items.
In 2023, 1,476 people were involved in the event, donating more than 4,500 items equating to approximately 1.2 tonnes of clothes being prevented from going to landfill.
Andrew Rollings, centre director at Ealing Broadway, said: “Community and sustainability are key priorities for us at Ealing Broadway, so it was brilliant to see how popular the Clothes Swap was last year, as well as the more recent pre-loved Uniform Shop last month. We’re looking forward to continuing to host them throughout the year and to support the community with providing a range of new pre-loved items ahead of the summer.”
Shoppers at Ealing Broadway can also donate clothing all year round at Love Not Landfill’s three permanent clothes bank on the First Floor and in St. Saviour’s Walk.
