Waterstones is excited to have opened a children’s comic book pop-up shop situated on the lower ground floor of its London flagship on Piccadilly.

Bea Carvalho, Head of Books, Waterstones says: “The comic book pop-up in Waterstones Piccadilly is our most colourful, zaniest installation to date, a space full of fun and energy for children to discover the sheer joy to be found in storytelling and illustration. We are so excited to welcome young readers to our flagship for an exciting program of events and activities led by our brilliant children’s booksellers, and to meet some favourite authors, illustrators, and characters along the way.”

The pop-up shop invites young visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant and hugely entertaining world of comic books and their creators. Unique installation pieces such as a giant doodle wall, and appearances of favourite character costumes, will bring the rich world of comic books to life for children of all reading levels, including reluctant readers.

Children will be able to browse colourful displays to find their next favourite read, meet popular comic book creators at events, or get creative themselves at workshops, including a celebration of 75 years of Beano with Directors of Mischief and Mayhem, Mike Stirling and Craig Graham, Crafts and Comics with Jim Smith, a Tiny Hercules workshop with Jon Lock and Nich Angell, a Dadbot workshop with Jack Noel and a Squid Squad event with Aoife Dooley.
