COMMUNITY COMES FIRST THIS CHRISTMAS AT THE MALL WOOD GREEN

Christmas may be looking a little different this year, but The Mall Wood Green has come up with festive community initiatives to help shoppers celebrate the season and prepare for the big day. It is also encouraging customers to get into the Christmas spirit by supporting local NHS charities.

“2020 has been a challenging year for us all, but we have seen our local community come together and stand by each other in so many wonderful ways,” says The Mall Wood Green’s General Manager, Samantha Davidson “And at the very forefront of this fantastic effort has been our truly amazing NHS. We are so incredibly thankful to those very humble heroes, who have been working tirelessly on the frontline every single day since the crisis hit.

“We would like to encourage shoppers to give something back and support the NHS at this special time of year by donating to NHS Charities Together. Donations can be made via our social media channels or the link on our website.” https://themall.co.uk/wood-green/whats-on/at-the-mall/2020/donate-here/.

New restrictions mean that the traditional visit to Santa’s Grotto will be different this year, so the team at The Mall has sprinkled a little festive magic and put together a Christmas experience quite unlike any other. Keen to ensure that no one misses out on a visit to Father Christmas, the shopping centre is inviting local families to enter the digital world of Virtual Santa for a socially distanced experience via its new Magic Santa Cam.

Upon entering the grotto, families will be invited to say the words: “I believe in the magic of Christmas,” and then watch in delight as Santa magically appears. The moment will be captured on camera and each family group will receive a photograph, which can be collected on the way out of the grotto. Each booking is limited to a single household with a maximum of six members and costs £4 for a five-minute slot. Face masks must be worn outside the grotto but can be removed for the photograph and hands must be sanitised on entry. The Mall is also extending its opening hours from 8am-8pm so that visitors can shop safely for longer this December. Some stores, including Primark, TK Maxx and New Look will be opening from 7am until 10pm, giving shoppers plenty of time to get to get ready for the big day. Samantha added: “After what has been a very difficult year, we are determined to celebrate our community and make the Christmas experience at The Mall as special and memorable as possible.”
