Consultation on the University of Greenwich’s Devonport House Project launches today, with the wider community encouraged to provide feedback on plans to transform Devonport House and the area immediately surrounding it, to provide cutting-edge teaching and learning facilities, create new space for the wider community, and restore an existing listed building.
The University’s vision for the project is to restore and revitalise the Grade II listed Devonport House, repairing and reinstating the key listed features of the original building. A focus point of this work will be to create a highly efficient and sustainable new building that respects the heritage and character of the World Heritage Site.
The project will also enhance the area around the campus to improve access to and through the World Heritage site, create indoor and outdoor spaces for everyone to enjoy, and deliver substantial economic and social benefits to the Greenwich community.
The considerable amount of engagement already done by the University of Greenwich has helped shape the proposals now out for consultation. This is to ensure the community and key stakeholders are involved in the entire process.
The project website (www.devonporthouseproject.co.uk) contains full details of the proposals, as well as the ability to provide feedback.
As part of this public consultation, the University of Greenwich is hosting two public consultation events for the Greenwich community, on Saturday 14 September 11am-2pm and on Wednesday 18 September 6pm-9pm. Both events will be hosted at the Devonport House Conference Centre, off King William Walk, and there will be signage to guide attendees.
The Project is part of the University of Greenwich’s estate modernisation and renewal programme which aims to provide modern, state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities that respect the heritage, character and locations of campus surroundings.
The University of Greenwich and the Devonport House Project team look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks to discuss the proposals. For more information, please visit the project website at www.devonporthouseproject.co.uk.
