Costa Coffee today opens its newest store on Aldersgate Street, marking the latest step in the Nation’s Favourite Coffee Shop’s* continued investment in London, and bringing its handcrafted coffee to one of the capital’s busiest commuter areas.

Located in the heart of the city, the Aldersgate Street store has been thoughtfully designed to welcome a wide range of customers, from early-morning commuters to local workers, residents and visitors exploring the area.

Opening in a former bank building, the store retains a number of original architectural features, including soaring ceilings and tall windows, that flood the space with natural light. A striking central counter sits at the heart of the store, with seating arranged around it to showcase the craft of Costa Coffee’s talented baristas and create a warm, social focal point.

The interior features a fresh, contemporary layout that blends comfort, warmth and style. A refined colour palette, soft ambient lighting and artistic touches, including abstract artwork and wall installations inspired by coffee landscapes, create a welcoming, modern atmosphere.

Customers can choose from a variety of seating options, from high stools and cosy booths to relaxed lounge chairs and outdoor seating. Whether stopping in for a quick pick-me-up or settling in for a longer break, the space has been designed to suit every type of visit.
For added convenience, on-the-go customers can make use of sleek self-service digital kiosks, or they can order ahead through Click and Collect via the Costa Club App.

The Aldersgate store will also offer a selection of freshly baked pastries, to perfectly pair with Costa Coffee’s Mocha Italia Signature taste coffee.

The opening has created four new jobs, contributing to the local economy and supporting Costa Coffee’s ongoing investment in its people and communities. Four existing baristas have also relocated from nearby stores to bring their expertise to the new location.

“Opening our new Aldersgate Street store is an exciting milestone as we continue to grow our presence in London,” said Luke Shaughnessy, Regional Operations Director for London and Southeast at Costa Coffee.

“This is a fast-moving, vibrant part of the city, and we’re proud to offer a space that fits into people’s daily rituals, whether that’s grabbing a quick coffee on the way to work or taking a pause during a busy day.”

The opening forms part of an investment of up to £3.5 million across the city, with a pipeline of up to seven new Costa Coffee stores to open in London this year. The brand also plans to refurbish more than 10 existing locations in 2026, enhancing the Costa Coffee experience for customers across the capital.

Policy Chairman of the City of London Corporation, Chris Hayward, said: “Costa Coffee opening at Aldersgate reflects the City’s growing appeal as a destination, as well as a workplace. With unmatched transport connectivity, rising footfall and a strong mix of cafés, services and public spaces, the Square Mile is earning the commute of its workers, throughout the week.

“Combined with the City’s rich heritage and expanding leisure offer, openings like this also help create a sociable, serviceable environment that builds community and makes the City somewhere workers, residents and visitors alike actively choose to spend time. Good luck Costa Coffee.”

The new Aldersgate Street Costa Coffee store is open from 6am to 9pm Monday to Saturday and 6:30am to 9pm on Sunday.
