Nearly 26,000 Royal Greenwich residents have been dazzled by the Council’s free festive event, Sparkle in the Park, at Charlton House and Gardens.
For four spectacular nights, the park was transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland and the historic Charlton House was illuminated, alongside stunning light features telling festive stories from across the world. Other features included ‘Evanescence’, beautiful, iridescent bubbles by artists Atelier Sisu and ‘Globoscope’ by Collectif Coin, combining an outdoor artwork with music and over 200 lights, plus ‘LightWeight’, giant illuminated globes by Impossible Arts.
Local market stalls and street food, a fun fair and musical performances also entertained families from across the borough and beyond.
Many residents also enjoyed the festive activities run by Charlton House inside the historic property, including story time with Mrs. Claus and the cosy ‘Winter Tavern’.
A spokesperson for the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “The Council is committed to delivering free, accessible and inclusive events where everyone is welcome.
“Sparkle in the Park brings our communities together to celebrate the festive season, without anyone having to worry about the cost of a ticket.
“Set against the historical backdrop of Charlton House and Gardens, it was brilliant to see so many residents enjoying the festivities this year, including during our quiet session for children and adults with special educational needs and sensory sensitivities.
“We hope you all had a wonderful time and wish you all a happy and safe festive season.”
