A pop-up Covid vaccination centre is coming to the City of London – offering Square Mile workers and residents the chance to get their jab before Christmas.
The mobile unit will be stationed outside the Mansion House, at Bank Junction, on Monday, 20 December from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.
As the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to spread, people are being urged to get the booster jab to ensure they receive maximum protection against the virus.
People can also turn up at the pop-up centre to get their first or second Covid jab if they haven’t already received it. No appointment is needed.
Deputy Chair of the City of London Corporation’s Community and Children’s Services Committee Randall Anderson said:
“With high demand for the booster vaccine before Christmas, this pop-up unit will provide a simple, convenient way for City workers and residents to get the jab.
“Ensuring you’re fully vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones and the wider community from getting seriously ill with the virus and to reduce pressure on our NHS this Christmas.
“Any dose of the vaccine provides protection against Covid so I’d urge people who haven’t already had their first or second jab to take advantage of this opportunity to receive it – it’s not too late.”
The Covid booster jab is available at the pop-up site to over-18s while the first and second doses of the vaccine are available to over-16s.
Meanwhile, people can also get their first, second and booster jabs at the Square Mile’s dedicated vaccination centre at Boots pharmacy, at 120, Fleet Street.
People can book an appointment at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119. More information is at www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/footer/covid-19
People can help prevent the spread of Covid by meeting outside where possible, opening doors and windows to let in fresh air if meeting others inside, limiting the number of people they meet and avoiding crowded spaces.
They should also wear a face covering in shops, on public transport and when it’s hard to stay away from other people and wash their hands with soap and water or use hand sanitiser regularly throughout the day.
