THREE local Specsavers stores have joined forces to support families in need at a South Croydon school, helping to stock its newly established Community Hub ahead of the school summer holidays.
The school, Harris Academy Haling Park, which recently launched the Community Hub to support local families, was looking for donations of essential supplies, including hygiene products, cleaning items, baby care essentials and non-perishable food to help tackle food insecurity during the six-week break.
Specsavers Croydon Church Street, North End, and Purley, which are all locally owned and run, stepped in to support the initiative. The donation drive ran in-store for 1 month, with colleagues across all three businesses donating whatever they could.
What began as a single collection box in-store quickly grew into a full-scale team effort, with eight donation boxes filled thanks to the generosity of staff across the three Croydon locations.
The Community Hub were absolutely thrilled to receive the items, expressing heartfelt thanks to the teams for their support and for helping to ease the burden on struggling families during the school holidays.
