17 & Central is partnering with Cultural Fashion & Arts to bring its Cultural Heritage Month and Cultural Style Week celebrations to Walthamstow from 11 May to 10 June 2026. During the month, 17 & Central will be hosting an exciting programme of events at CRATE Walthamstow, the Centre’s thriving Food Hall.
Cultural Heritage Month is a new UK-wide celebration, which was launched at Hackney Museum in November 2025. It creates a shared national moment where communities can come together through food, fashion, art, music, storytelling and cultural experiences to celebrate and explore culture and traditions, and the diverse communities across the UK.
Speaking at the launch event last year, Candy-Ellie Graham, Founder and Creative Director of Cultural Fashion & Arts CIC, said: “Over the past four years, we’ve consistently heard that people want more space, visibility and opportunity to share their culture beyond a single moment or community. Cultural Heritage Month brings that together, creating a shared national moment where communities can stand proudly side by side.”
The initiative builds on four years of cultural programmes delivered by Cultural Fashion & Arts CIC, including Cultural Style Week (21–27 May 2026), which empowers people to embrace and share their heritage through personal style and creative expression.
“We’re truly excited and honoured to support and host Cultural Heritage Month and Cultural Style Week, and to welcome these vibrant celebrations to Walthamstow,” comments Gwendolyne Lobo, 17 & Central’s Marketing Manager.
“17 & Central is a natural home for these events – a space shaped by many cultures, where our local communities can proudly share and showcase their heritage. With our food hall bringing together flavours from all around the world alongside muchloved local cuisines, it’s the perfect setting for cultures to come together, connect, and celebrate in a meaningful and joyful way.”
Candy adds: “Growing up in East London, Walthamstow market was always a place where different cultures came together, and I have very fond memories from my childhood. 17 & Central carries that same energy today, making it an ideal setting for Cultural Heritage Month celebrations. We’re excited to celebrate the vibrant communities here and to bring some of our flagship Cultural Style Week fashion shows for all to experience and enjoy.”
