Cycling 750 mile Fundraiser for Veteran’s Mental Health culminates in Farringdon this April

Corps Security is pleased to announce Le Tour de Corps 2023, a cycling challenge raising funds for Combat Stress. In 2013 a team of Corps colleagues cycled from Stevenage via London and Cardiff and ended in Glasgow seven days later. Ten years on with a team comprising some of the original riders, a selection of Corps colleagues and a representative from Combat Stress will take on the challenge again.

This April, the team will revisit the challenge, starting at the other end. The team will cover 1200 km (750 miles), beginning in Glasgow and visiting all Corps Security mainland offices en route to its headquarters in London. The route will involve nearly 10,000m of climbing as it winds through the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Brecon Beacons over seven arduous days.

The original event raised over £5000 for the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund (as part of their Commando Spirit project). This year the team will be raising funds for Corps’ chosen charity, Combat Stress, and we hope to raise even more money to support their vital work for veterans in the UK.

Andy Topp, Sales and Marketing Director at Corps Security comments: “Exactly ten years on from the original Tour de Corps, we are delighted to be taking on the challenge once again, this time raising money to support the mental health and wellbeing of veterans through Combat Stress. Every penny we raise will make a difference to veterans, their families and loved ones, helping them to reintegrate into society following their service to our country. From everyone at Corps Security, we thank you for your support.”

The riders and hoping for sponsorship to support the veterans the charity supports. Any amount you can spare for this tremendous cause will be gratefully received. Below is an outline of how Combat Stress use the money to support our veterans:

• £25 could fund a veteran’s call to the Combat Stress helpline

• £63 funds an online 1:1 art therapy session

• £75 would pay for a 1:1 session with an occupational therapist.

• £105 would allow 3 veterans to have a 1 to 1 peer support session.

• £290 could pay towards a veteran’s appointment with a psychiatrist

If anyone is willing, personally or via a company donation, to help the team to reach their goals, please visit the fundraising page at https://events.combatstress.org.uk/fundraisers/tourdecorps2023 where you can donate, see details of the overall route and daily itinerary and where we will post regular blogs before and during the event.

You can follow the cyclists’ progress on social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter), and track them during the event using the links which will be issued regularly by the Corps’ team, showing where the team are throughout the day – perfect if you want to see them ride past and offer your encouragement.
