DLD College London, a multi-award-winning independent school in the heart of the capital, has launched a new bursary offering for a minimum of six Year 9 students in a bid to support families affected by the imposition of VAT on school fees.
The leading college, based on Westminster Bridge Road, is striving to open more doors for students to study in the independent sector, while pioneering a pathway for middle-income families to navigate the tax increases. The valuable new bursary offer will enable students to benefit from a significant reduction in fees ranging from 50-100%, offering a more accessible route into independent education and easing the financial strain that some families will face in the aftermath of the 20% VAT imposition.
In addition to DLD’s long-established Alpha Scholars scholarship offering, its new bursary means the college boasts two competitive programmes for prospective pupils.
James Kidd, Principal, DLD College London commented: “We acknowledge the impact of the VAT imposition and how it will affect families going forward. We take pride in the fantastic pool of academic talent we have here at DLD College London, and by offering this bursary to our Year 9 students, we aim to ease financial barriers and forge an easier path for those looking to study, or continue studying in the independent sector.
“We not only have a responsibility to provide the best education, we have a responsibility to provide the best platform for our students, current and prospective, to grow. By continuing to champion inclusivity and affordability, independent schools can remain a force for social mobility, helping students from all backgrounds reach their full potential.”
A school of diverse thinking and influences, housed in a futuristic building with cutting-edge facilities opposite the Houses of Parliament, London is DLD’s classroom. Students aged 13 to 19 are offered the opportunity to study a wide range of GCSEs, A-Levels, BTEC courses and International Foundation Programmes (IFP). It also offers an Academic Preparation Programme (APC). In addition to several significant national award wins, DLD College London is also proud to be named by Tatler magazine, Good Schools Guide and Talk Education as one of the top schools in the UK.
DLD College London provides a ‘gold standard’ of educational quality. It is a school where students are respected, supported and honoured as individuals. Where they are immersed in the best possible environment to grow as successful and independent learners; where their vision can be made a reality, and where as happy and healthy people they feel free to make a contribution to the world around them, both now and into the future. The school’s beating heart is its award-winning wellbeing centre.
