Pupils and staff at Downe Primary School in Bromley will be ending the school year on a high note following an astounding set of Key Stage 2 results.
100% of pupils at Downe Primary School met the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined in their Key Stage 2 Standard Assessment Tests, commonly known as SATs, which are taken in pupils’ final year at primary school.
This result places Downe well ahead of the national average, since 62% of pupils nationally met the same benchmark.
Pupils in the school’s mainstream class in the year 1 cohort also performed exceptionally well in their statutory phonics screening check, with 100% of pupils meeting or exceeding the expected standard.
The phonics screening test is designed to test children’s ability to decode words using phonics. National averages are not available for this academic year yet; however the national average last year was 80%.
