Staff and students at E-ACT City Heights Academy in Tulse Hill, South London are celebrating some fantastic achievements in their GCSE results this year.

Teenagers across the country are celebrating today after sitting exams throughout May and June. Despite the challenges of the last few years, young people across the country have recorded stunning successes at GCSE, with the students of E-ACT City Heights Academy no exception.

Staff at E-ACT City Heights Academy have gone above and beyond to ensure their students were as prepared as possible for their GCSEs. In particular, the academy provided regular additional support in tutor time around revision planning, exam techniques and wellbeing for its year 11 students.
This extra support paid off with many students achieving excellent results.

E-ACT City Heights Academy’s strengthening partnership with Dulwich College has also had a positive impact. Not only has a student secured a prestigious Sixth Form place there but this year’s year 11 students have also benefitted with visits to Dulwich College for additional learning opportunities.

Among this year’s success stories at E-ACT City Heights are twins Charlie and Max Courtney. Charlie has secured a place at Dulwich College to study further maths, physics and economics, while Max is going to Stansted Airport College to study aeronautical engineering.

E-ACT City Heights’ high performers include:

Charlie Courtney, who achieved five grade 9s, six grade 8s and one grade 6 and will attend Dulwich College Sixth Form to study further maths, physics and economics
Max Courtney, who achieved nine GCSEs, including one grade 8, one grade 7 and three grade 6s and will study aeronautical engineering at Stansted Airport College

Ygor Queiroz Sousa who achieved two grade 9s, three grade 8s, one grade 7 and two grade 6s and will study drama, Portuguese, biology and sociology at La Retaire

Marvin Charles, Headteacher at E-ACT City Heights Academy, said: It’s fantastic to see Charlie secure those superb grades to progress to Dulwich College, and Max achieve what he needs to go on to study aeronautical engineering. These are wonderful opportunities for them both.

“I am incredibly proud of all our amazing students today and want to say well done to them all. I have loved seeing so many happy and smiling faces in our academy corridors today and I know these young people absolutely deserve the grades they’ve received. So much hard work has gone into the results, and it is fantastic to see this rewarded.”
