Ealing Broadway has officially hired its most important new team member yet – a Chief Fun Officer (CFO). Ten-year-old Iris from Ealing has been appointed as the centre’s first ever CFO after wowing the team with her big imagination and creative spirit.
Chosen from a host of fantastic entries, Iris was recruited by Ealing Broadway to try out the wealth of family-friendly retailers and fun experiences at the centre ahead of the busy Christmas season.
Iris’s application stood out due to her passion for retail and imagination, from designing her own “mouse mansion” toy shop – complete with miniature details and two mouse shopkeepers – to suggesting fun ideas for the centre, she was the perfect choice for the role.
Iris spent a fun-filled full day at the centre testing the wide variety of activities on offer. Her adventure began with sampling fluffy Japanese pancakes at Fuwa Fuwa before choosing a new outfit at Primark, picking up a goodie bag of colourful stationery from Smiggle, and getting creative at Greenka, where she potted her very own plant to take home.
The fun continued in the afternoon with a sweet stop at Leonidas to sample their chocolate range and a browse at Waterstones to pick up her next read, before enjoying a leisurely lunch and reviewing the menu at Comptoir Libanais.
To round off her experience, Iris and her friends hit the lanes – and the karaoke mic – at Gutterball, spending the afternoon bowling, singing and playing arcade games.
Commenting on her experience, Iris said: “I had the BEST day at Ealing Broadway – it was like having my very own Yes Day! There was so much to do, and I loved spending it with my family and friends. We ate lots of tasty treats, including fluffy pancakes, and had so much fun singing and bowling together at Gutterball. I can’t wait to come back – I’m giving it my official CFO approval!”
Mum, Lucy, added: “It meant a lot to have Iris selected as the centre’s Chief Fun Officer – she’s always full of imagination and energy, so this role couldn’t be more perfect for her. Huge thanks goes the Ealing Broadway team for making it such a great day and giving her the well-deserved Chief Fun Officer title.”
Andrew Rollings, Centre Director at Ealing Broadway, said: “We had some wonderful applications for our CFO role, and would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply. It was a difficult decision to select just one candidate, but Iris stood out as a brilliant choice for us, with her with her creativity and passion for retail.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance our visitor experience, and we’d like to thank Iris for helping us to do just that.”
