Ealing Broadway has reported a strong end to 2024, with footfall soaring by 11.6% in November and 8.1% in December compared to the previous year.
The centre’s busiest day was 21st December as shoppers picked up last minute Christmas gifts and enjoyed the festive market stalls, live music and visits to the grotto.
As a result, December saw sales increase by 7.6% year-on-year as shoppers picked up gifts for family and friends ahead of the festive season.
The bumper festive season was driven by a number of popular Christmas activations to help shoppers get into the spirit. This included the annual Christmas Markets, with a range of food to try and small gifts on offer, as well as live music from local community groups, and the chance to meet Santa at his grotto. The daily snow flurries proved to be popular once again this year and gave Ealing locals the perfect opportunity to snap a snowy selfie.
The centre also launched the ‘Carrot Cabin’ for the first time, where hundreds of free carrots and mince pies were distributed to the local community on 23rd and 24th December to ensure Santa and his crew were well-fed ahead of their long journey. Additionally, the centre’s Merry Mailbox campaign, in partnership with Age UK, saw more than 164 locals writing Christmas cards for people who might otherwise feel isolated during the festive season.
This follows a successful year for Ealing Broadway, which saw significant investment in its offering for shoppers with five new store openings, including the arrival of PureGym, Lovisa, Rituals,
The Library of Things and Boots Hearing Co.
2024 also saw a series of community events and initiatives take place at Ealing Broadway, including the Young Readers Programme, which encouraged more than 200 local young people to develop a love of reading outside of the classroom.
Andrew Rollings, Ealing Broadway’s Centre Director, stated: “2024 was a positive year for us at Ealing Broadway. We welcomed five new brands which have been brilliantly received by our shoppers and have hosted more unique on-site experiences, making sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy and make the most of their time at the centre – and the results are testament to that.
“We’re gearing up for another busy year as we look to keep up this great momentum, making sure our shopping and leisure options continue to lead the way across West London.”
