TV legend Eamonn Holmes has branded the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “sneaky” for how they arrived back in the UK last week – and expressed doubt about whether relations with the royal family are improving.

Eamonn, speaking on Breakfast with Eamonn and Isabel on GB News this morning, said: “People hear that Harry is going to write a book in which he’s going to slag off his dad and his step-mum as well, so it all hasn’t gone away.

“And also there was a sneaky nature with which they got into the country last week. They went to see the Queen whilst his brother was abroad.”

Eamonn also said that in a media appearance to promote the Invictus Games, the Prince was sounding more and more like his father Prince Charles.

Eamonn added: “Tthe funny thing is…I noticed Harry during an interview at the Invictus Games Harry was so like his father.

“He doesn’t want to be like his father, but he sits there and he says: “I think what is happening here, it’s extraordinary, extraordinary.

“He keeps using the word extraordinary, which is a favourite word of Prince Charles, when he talks about things. He is more like his father than he would probably like to be.”

Asked by co-host Isabel Webster if the Invictus Games was warming people’s hearts to the couple, GB News royal reporter Cameron Walker later said: “Well, I think the press coverage has certainly been very positive.

“I think a lot of people are saying that it’s the old Prince Harry back before he stepped back as a senior working member of the royal family.”

He added that Buckingham Palace was cool on reports that Meghan and Harry might participate in the Queen’s jubilee celebrations:

“Well, it’s just speculation at this stage,” he saId. “I spoke to Buckingham Palace last night and they are not going to comment on it.

“They say it is just purely speculation but the reports do suggest that Harry and Megan have been invited to appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in person during jubilee celebrations.”

Isabel also said claims that members of the public could boo if Meghan and Harry stood beside the Queen were unlikely.

“If Her Majesty is standing up there at this great celebration,” she said. “I can only imagine people cheering her.”
