From buses to boats, trams to trains and coaches to cable cars, Transport for London (TfL) has been keeping London moving for a quarter
of a century. This Easter head to London Transport Museum, for a parade of family friendly activities celebrating the journey so far. Children can create an invention to carry people across the Thames, map out their own transport network and have a go at busking.
Highlights of this fun fortnight include:
Across the Thames
The building of the London cable car brought an iconic new means of transport to London. In this fun and interactive session children are challenged to design their own
new mode of transport to carry passengers across the world-famous river.
Map Your City
Families can create their own London Underground style map, in this arts and crafts workshop. Would-be
designers are invited to consider what’s important in their communities and the different lines and stations that
could take shape in their version of London.
Mini-Buskers
Little ones can take musical inspiration from the sounds of the Underground in this lively session, celebrating London Underground’s Busking Scheme. Budding buskers will
‘travel’ to a trio of Tube stations, playing a different instrument at each stop to celebrate its music and communities.
All in a Day’s Work
Hop on aboard for an interactive storytelling session all about a big red London bus. Through stories and songs under-fives and their families can find out about the many
different jobs needed to keep London’s iconic buses moving.
Families can also explore 200 years of London transport history, across the Museum’s award-winning galleries. From a horse drawn tram to
an electric bus and vintage Tube carriages to an Elizabeth Line simulator, there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained this Easter.
Kids go free at London Transport Museum and adult tickets include free return entry for a whole year.
