EE has teamed up with prolific London-based artist and illustrator Choots to create a colourful new mural installed on the façade of the EE store in Camden.
The artwork celebrates the iconic landmarks, colourful roots, and eclectic people that make Camden what it is, while also highlighting the many ways those in the borough use technology
in their everyday lives.
The artist, Choots, known for his vibrant colours and playful characters, was chosen for his uplifting style, merging art and technology. He created the artwork using an iPad,
a departure from the approach used in his two previous Camden installations.
Choots says:
“It’s been an honour to create this mural reflecting the fascinating role that technology now plays in communities, especially the eclectic and uniquely connected people of Camden. As an artist, I’ve always seen technology as a tool to help with artistic
expression, and wanted this piece to celebrate how tech can bring people together to create beautiful things”.
According to research from EE, London is the UK’s most ‘plugged in’ city, with 96% of the population owning a smart device and
a quarter (24%) even using smart home tech in their garden sheds such as smart TVs and speakers.
However, plugged in doesn’t always mean switched on, with more than half (52%) of Londoners saying they need more help to understand the features of their devices
so they can get the most out of them (second only to Birmingham at 54%). EE’s Guides have been providing accessible tech help to Camden since 2010 , forming great relationships with residents and visitors, and helping to digitally upskill the community.
Dean King, Director of Stores at EE:
“At EE, we are continuously looking for ways to celebrate the vibrant communities our stores serve across the country, and so it’s been brilliant to see this mural at our Camden High Street store come to life.
“I’m never happier than when someone leaves a store with a newfound confidence and excitement about what technology can do for them, and I hope this new mural on this iconic high street gives people another reason to pop in and see us.”
To view the mural head down to the EE Camden store at 187 Camden High Street, where EE’s Guides will also be on hand to offer their expert advice on the latest connected technology.
The mural was created by Choots, in collaboration with EE and print and installation partner, Communisis Brand Deployment.
