A new Jobcentre Plus was in the spotlight today (30 March) as Minister for Employment, Mims Davies MP, officially cut the ribbon on the new site in Albert Dock, Newham, alongside Neil Couling CB CBE.
Altitude Jobcentre, next to Becton Park Station, is ideally located to support the community of Newham with City Airport, Newham’s Dockside, and many large employers on its doorstep.
Work Coaches at the new site in Newham will join thousands of colleagues up and down the country at the forefront of the Government’s drive to get 500,000 people currently out of work into jobs by the end of the summer as part of the ‘Way to Work’ campaign.
The Jobcentre will have 50 Work Coaches, some of whom joined the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as part of the successful recruitment drive to hire 13,500 new Work Coaches across the country.
The Minister for Employment spoke to new Work Coaches based at the site, hearing about how they will be supporting a wide range of customers with one-on-one tailored support.

“We know that work brings so much positivity both financially but also from a wellbeing standpoint, which is why we’re boosting our DWP Jobcentre support in every community of the UK, including here in Newham.
“I was delighted to meet Work Coaches in Newham who are already making a positive difference to the lives of so many individuals every day.
“Our Way to Work campaign is accelerating this excellent work, connecting claimants in our jobcentres to opportunities out there right now and working even more closely with employers to fill their vacancies.”
Altitude Jobcentre is one of the new temporary sites announced by DWP earlier this year, building on the existing 639 Jobcentres across the UK.
The additional space will accommodate new Work Coaches recruited in East London, helping more people to transform their lives through tailored employment support.
