A free 5K running event in Hackney, as part of the Hackney Moves festival in May, has limited places available.
Hackney Moves takes place at Hackney Marshes from 18-19 May 2024, culminating in the sold out Wizz Air Hackney Half marathon on the Sunday.
The Hackney Moves Community 5K will mark the start of the weekend which represents more than just running, with culture and fitness combined. Hackney Moves will see Hackney Marshes and the surrounding areas vibrant with music and street art, fitness and running, designed to combine the best of East London at the Hackney Moves festival, which is free and open to all across the weekend.
The free 5K event is hosted by the Hackney Moves event organisers to provide accessible and affordable access to fitness, with entries for the event going fast, and limited places remaining. Participants will receive a finishers medal.
The weekend will also include a Schools’ Challenge, fitness festival and a vibrant event village in Hackney Marshes.

The Wizz Air Hackney Half Marathon sold out in record time and we’re expecting a huge turnout at Hackney Marshes across the weekend of runners, families and many more who want to take in this vibrant celebration of Hackney.
“The Hackney Moves Community 5K offers participants that don’t want to take part in the half marathon distance the chance to get involved, be active and have a great time. We believe it’s vitally important that these events provide opportunities to the community.”
The Hackney Moves Community 5K begins at midday on Saturday 18 May, places only available for the 15:00 wave.
