Former London mayoral candidate Winston McKenzie has welcomed Kings College Hospital’s announcement about their research programme concerning Sickle Cell Disorder.
Inflicting mainly Africans & Caribbeans, McKenzie commented on the condition telling us “Kings college hospital have earlier this week announced their research programme into Sickle Cell disorder.”
He added “This debilitating disorder can cause such painful crisis symptoms as the abnormal individual curved blood cells lock together causing a blockage of natural blood flow and consistent pain.”
As part of the research Kings College confirmed “It will provide exposure to a broad spectrum of the different sub-specialities; red cell and Paediatric haematology, including sickle cell disease and other haemoglobinopathies, and genetic counselling of these disorders”
