“Oi Nan, fancy a pint?” Well, you better hope so because Brixton Brewery is set to bring people of all drinking ages together in truly unique fashion by hosting a four-day long celebration: ‘Bring Your Gran for A Can’
Bring a friend, relative or complete stranger (with their permission of course!) aged 60 or above to Brixton Brewery’s taproom for a chat to receive a free can of Generation Pale Ale. Or, better still, if you are a mischief-making older member of the community and fancy DM-ing a young’un for a face-to-face chat alongside a free beer, then be our guest! Yes, it really is that simple!
Ah, you like the idea, but you’re struggling to find an older friend to bring along? Don’t fret. Because on Thursday 29th July, Brixton Brewery will team up with Age UK Lambeth to match its friendly members with you. For one-night only they’ll be your one-way ticket to free beer and music, courtesy of over 60’s shape-thrower DJ Shadow Sister, all whilst meeting your new baby boomer BFF.
Can’t make the 29th July? Rest assured Brixton Brewery will keep its doors open, your seat warm and free beer cold by continuing the offer until Sunday 1st August. So you have four whole days – approximately 96 hours (excluding when we shut and clean the place) – to pop by and say “HI”.
The feel-good post-lockdown knees-ups are in aid of Age UK Lambeth, which has seen an increase of 233% in demand for its services over the past 12 months. This includes its MYneighbours scheme that pairs elderly members with younger volunteers who regularly call and visit them and bring hot meals, too.
The organisation estimates that there have been over 10,000 hours’ worth of calls made between these new besties over the past year – around 416 days’ worth of nattering on the phone!
So if you fancy swapping your slippers for stilettoes and meeting the nan-of-your-dreams on Thursday 29th July, head to Brixton’s online ticketing site to book your FREE ticket.
Regardless of when you attend, or how many new older and wiser friends you make, in exchange for a free beer, Brixton Brewery is requesting all attendees make a donation, big or small (the bigger the better), to Age UK Lambeth.
The event follows the launch of Brixton Brewery’s limited edition Generation Pale Ale – the first beer purpose-brewed to raise money for Age UK Lambeth and bring people of all (legal drinking) ages back together after lockdown.
The beer name and vibrant design, featuring a shopping trolley/boom box for kickass grandmas and granddads, have been officially approved by Age UK Lambeth’s members.
Generation Pale Ale (3.8%) is a sprightly pale ale crafted with modern British hops, Olicana® and Harlequin™. It’s packed full of flavour and all the wisdom of the ages. So, as it says on the can: ring your gran, make a plan and let’s party like it’s 2019!
To purchase Generation Pale Ale in aid of Age UK Lambeth, visit Brixton Brewery’s website or head to their taproom in the heart of Brixton. The beer costs £2.65, 6-pack £15, 12-pack £28, and 24-pack £48 or £4.50 for a pint at the taproom.
