Chiswick House & Gardens Trust is excited to announce a range of free community events this summer, with young families, kids and adults invited to take part in a July 6th creative clay and art workshop and an Artist Studios Open Day on August 30th.
The Trust is also launching a WildWatch Nature Trail on July 6th, a free resource encouraging children to explore nature and discover the butterflies, bees, bugs and beetles that live in its working 17th-century Kitchen Gardens and in the wider grounds.
The beautiful 65-acre gardens in West London, open to everyone, every day, are in the process of turning disused back of house areas into a new Community and Creative Campus, cementing Trust’s place as a vital home for creativity, nature and learning.
The Sunday July 6th clay workshop, led by local artist Ayesha Weekes and taking place in the Kitchen Garden, is centred around the theme of ‘Shaping Spaces’ and invites attendees to share their vision for what the new community spaces should look and feel like.
Participants will be able to contribute to a collaborative artwork that captures the community vision, while also exploring the Kitchen Garden, where the Trust grows fruit, flowers and vegetables and nurtures a nature-rich wild meadow area.
The Saturday August 30th event will invite visitors to explore the Trust’s new on-site Artist Studios, meeting resident artists and taking part in creative workshops and family-friendly art activities.
Officially launched last month, the Studios are situated in refurbished historic sheds, stables and outbuildings, close to the wildlife-rich Kitchen Garden. Between 20 and 40 artists will be moving in this summer.
In addition to these free events, the Trust is hosting a number of ticketed family events, including an outdoor theatre performance of Alice through the Looking Glass on July 5th, and Action Arena, an inflatable assault course for intrepid kids and adults alike, from July 31st to August 3rd.
