Free train travel to London for veterans on Remembrance Day

In line with train operators across the country, Greater Anglia will be offering free travel for serving military personnel and veterans to and from Remembrance Day events in London.

For military personnel and veterans attending Remembrance events, the special travel arrangements are as follows:

Free travel will be offered to serving military personnel and veterans attending the Submariners’ Remembrance Service on Saturday 1 November and the Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph on Sunday 9 November.

For those attending the Submariners’ Remembrance Service, free travel is allowed to any London Terminal station on either Saturday 1 or Sunday 2 November and returning from any London Terminal on Sunday 2 November only.

For those attending the Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph, free travel is allowed to any London Terminal station on either Saturday 8 or Sunday 9 November and returning from any London Terminal on Sunday 9 November only.

As in previous years, free return travel to attend a Service of Remembrance outside of London will be offered on Sunday 9 November only.

This offer is open to serving military personnel and veterans.

Free travel is allowed for current serving Armed Forces personnel in uniform. Free travel is also allowed for serving military personnel and veterans who are not in uniform and can produce the following:

a current MOD90 Ministry of Defence-issued identity card
a Veterans Railcard, Veterans Oyster card, Ministry of Defence-issued Veterans ID or other form of identification showing the customer is a veteran (e.g., proof of pension).
Free travel is also being offered to Poppy Day volunteers and collectors travelling to the London Poppy Day event on 30 October to collect funds on behalf of the Royal British Legion.

Greater Anglia advises customers planning to attend Remembrance Day events to plan ahead and check before they travel.
