Freenow by Lyft, the leading taxi and multi-mobility app, announces an expanded partnership with workplace rewards platform Onsi to provide enhanced financial support for black cab drivers across the UK.
The initiative directly addresses the impact of rising living and operational costs that taxi drivers are facing. Central to this update is a new Shell Fuel Card, providing drivers with significant savings at the pump. Freenow partner drivers can register here and benefit from:
6p per litre savings on standard fuel.
10p per litre savings on V-Power.
These discounts are available at Shell stations and across partner networks, including Esso and Texaco, and have already seen a high uptake among the driver community.
In addition to the new fuel offering, drivers will continue to benefit from Onsi’s existing features, including:
Accident and sickness insurance* – providing financial protection in the event of illness or injury, as well as lump sum payments for major life events such as welcoming a new child or bereavement.
Flexible payouts – allowing drivers to access earnings when needed, including between two and five free withdrawals per month.
Shopping discounts – offering savings at retailers such as Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, and Aldi.
Danny O’Gorman. General Manager, Freenow by Lyft, commented: “Taxi drivers are our partners, and their success is at the heart of everything we do. We know that rising fuel costs are putting a real strain on the trade, so we’re stepping up our support to help where it matters most. By expanding our discount schemes and benefits through Onsi, we’re investing directly in the people who keep our cities moving, ensuring they have the financial relief and lifestyle support they deserve.”
Ben Phillips, Head of Commercial at Onsi, said: “Our partnership with Freenow by Lyft is all about making life easier for drivers – providing support that helps with everyday costs, while also giving them greater confidence in their longer-term financial wellbeing. It’s about offering practical benefits that make a real difference, both on and off the road.”
These rewards complement Freenow by Lyft’s existing support programmes, such as discounted EV charging with Octopus Electroverse and the Knowledge Subsidy, which assists aspiring black cab drivers with the costs of their world-renowned training and licensing.
