WITH a clear vision for her future, Aneesa Dadabhoy set her sights on climbing the ladder with a career in optometry – rising from a Saturday assistant to a fully qualified optometrist.
Aneesa, 22, from Ilford, began her journey at Specsavers Dagenham Heathway straight after finishing school in 2022.
Starting out as a dispensing optical assistant, Aneesa has progressed to become a fully qualified optometrist – all while completing a Master of Optometry at the University of Hertfordshire, which she finished in June this year.
‘I’m so grateful to Specavers Dagenham Heathway for supporting me on my career journey to becoming a qualified optometrist,’ says Aneesa. ‘The three years I’ve been working here have absolutely flown by, and I can’t thank the team enough for their encouragement
and support. I still can’t believe that just three years ago, I was a Saturday assistant, and now I’m a fully qualified optometrist.
‘I’m excited to keep building my career with Specsavers, continuing to learn, grow, and take on new challenges – I feel confident about the future and the opportunities ahead.’
For those looking to start a career at Specsavers, the business’ apprenticeship programme offers opportunities to train in stores, call centres, or labs, and previous experience of the industry isn’t required.
Clare Hasler, retail director at Specsavers Dagenham Heathway, says: ‘It has been an absolute pleasure to watch Aneesa grow and flourish in her career – seeing her development firsthand has been really rewarding.
‘At Specsavers Dagenham Heathway, we’re proud to support the careers of the next generation, and it’s incredibly fulfilling to provide opportunities to passionate individuals like Aneesa. She’s been a joy to work alongside, and we’re excited to see what the
future holds for her.’
