GB News Radio has become the UK’s fastest growing national radio brand in the last year, according to official RAJAR ratings figures released today.
The station’s audience grew by 40% in 2023, beating the growth of all other speech stations and every BBC speech and music service locally and nationally.
GB News Radio’s total weekly listening hours also grew dramatically, up 31% in 12 months.
In Q4, GB News Radio had an average 430,000 listeners a week, a record for the station and an increase of more than 32,000 listeners since the previous quarter.
In the key Prime Time evening slot from 6pm to 10pm, GB News Radio continues to beat all its established news rivals including talkRADIO, LBC News, and Times Radio.
Other programming winners included
Britain’s Newsroom with presenters Bev Turner and Andrew Pierce, who increased their radio audience by 18% from 9:30am to 12 noon.
The latest growth is driven by strong performance in daytime and the continuing dominance of flagship shows such as
Farage at 7pm and Jacob Rees Mogg’s State of the Nation at 8pm. Nigel’s radio audience alone grew 76% over the year.
Listeners’ passion for GB News Radio was also evident: the station’s Unique Reach – people who listen only to GB News and no one else – grew 288% in 12 months, a new high.
Commercial Director Nicole O’Shea said: “This is simply astounding growth by any measure, especially in a market that’s flatlining or declining for everyone else.
“GB News Radio launched with little fanfare only two years ago and now we’re bucking every industry trend. This is proof that our unique brand of lively news, opinion and debate is a hit
across the United Kingdom and delivers a unique audience not reached by other commercial stations.
