Brazilian music icon Gilberto Gil is set to return to London this summer for a one-night-only performance at The Roundhouse on 7th July, 2026. The concert will present a celebration of Gil’s extraordinary legacy, showcasing a career that has shaped generations and defined Brazilian culture for over six decades.

One of the architects of the Tropicalismo movement, Gil has created a musical language all his own, blending the rhythms of Bahia with samba, reggae, pop, rock, and Afro-Brazilian traditions. His career spans more than 60 albums, two Grammy Awards, two Latin Grammys, and a global influence that has brought collaborations with the likes of Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, and Sting, among many others.

For this one-off Roundhouse concert, Gil will revisit his long and rich musical journey, performing some of his most beloved songs, including “Aquele Abraço,” “Toda Menina Baiana,” “Expresso 2222,” “Andar com Fé,” “Drão,” “Palco,” and “Não Chore Mais.” He will be joined on stage by members of his own family – children and grandchildren Bem Gil, José Gil, João Gil, and Flor Gil – transforming the concert into an intimate dialogue between generations and bringing new warmth and life to a repertoire that has become part of Brazil’s cultural history.

Gilberto Gil’s influence extends far beyond music. He served as Brazil’s Minister of Culture, has been honoured with France’s Légion d’Honneur, received an honorary degree from Berklee College of Music, and is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Now touring Brazil on his “Tempo Rei – Last Tour,” Gil brings decades of musical mastery to London for a rare performance.

Gilberto Gil performs at The Roundhouse in London on 7th July, 2026. Tickets go on general sale this Friday, 30th January at 10am and are available from www.comono.co.uk.
