A brand new gift card for Brixton has gone live. Gift Brixton can be spent with over 80 businesses in Brixton – shops, restaurants, bars, attractions and services
Brixton’s new gift card is available to buy just in time for Christmas. Gift Brixton is a single gift card for the area that can be spent with shops, bars, restaurants, salons, attractions and services.
Available as a physical card or an e-card that is added to digital wallets, the Gift Brixton Gift Card is redeemable with over 80 Brixton businesses.
The card is available to buy online for consumers and in person from The Black Farmer and Brixton Streetwear at Brixton Village, Brixton Brewery and at Morleys Department Store. Organisations purchasing Gift Cards for employees, customers and clients have a dedicated corporate ordering site.
Gift Brixton is being led by Brixton BID, with Brixton Brewery, Morleys Department Store and Brixton Village sponsoring the programme. The initiative is designed to drive footfall and spend to Brixton businesses.
Gianluca Rizzo, managing director of the Brixton BID said: “We’re excited to launch Gift Brixton right in time for the festive period. With Gift Brixton in your pocket or digital wallet, you can experience our unique independent shops, restaurants and more with a single card. Gift Brixton has been created by our community and is designed to give back to the community; cards have to be spent here in Brixton, locking spend into our community for the benefit of all.”
A range of restaurants, cafés, bars and eateries accept the new Gift Brixton Gift Card, like Kricket.
Amelia Soro from Kricket said: “Kricket is a modern Indian restaurant group that started as a pop up in Brixton so Brixton has always been really special to us, and we were delighted to open our permanent restaurant in Brixton on Atlantic Road almost 7 years ago.
“When Brixton BID approached us about accepting Gift Brixton, it was a really easy ‘yes’ for us because it’s all about encouraging people to experience the amazing local businesses in Brixton, enjoy time here, and spend locally. With Gift Brixton, and the array of places to eat alongside places to shop, people can have a truly memorable experience. It’s a gift that suits all ages and interests – who doesn’t love lunch out or cocktails with friends?”
Multiple retailers also accept the card, like Diverse Gifts. Anita Thorpe said: “Diverse Gifts is an inclusive gift shop. It was Brixton’s very first gift shop and we’ve been here for 26 years. Gift Brixton is a great initiative because it will keep money here in Brixton, supporting independent businesses, which in turn enables us to offer opportunities. I employ 4 people at Diverse Gifts, and most are local.
“Brixton has a lot to offer that is unique and Gift Brixton will put people in touch with the best of Brixton. One of the biggest changes I’ve seen in Brixton over the past 26 years is the idea of collaboration. In the past, it was more about competition, but today, it’s more about how we can work together and support each other. Gift Brixton is a perfect example of a collaboration between independent businesses that will ultimately give customers a better experience. It’s the ideal time of year to launch Gift Brixton, giving people a local option for gifts, and I look forward to being able to buy the card and receive it in the shop too.”
The Gift Brixton Gift Card is part of the award-winning Town & City Gift Card programme from fintech Miconex, which is active across the UK and Ireland, with over £45m spent locally and 20,000 businesses benefiting.
