Following prolonged fan excitement, Greggs has today announced it will officially open its new shop on Leicester Square on Monday 18th July.
In keeping with its starry location, the new shop will open with its very own premiere celebrations, echoing all the glitz and glamour of the film industry.
From 11.30am, customers who make their way to Leicester Square to visit the sparkling new shop will get to experience a Greggs spin on a true blockbuster style premiere.
Fans are encouraged to premiere their finest looks ahead of stepping out onto the Greggs blue carpet and posing in front of the dazzling paparazzi board.
No Leicester Square premiere is complete without a VIP experience, so Greggs is offering the first 200 fans a free Sausage Roll or Vegan Sausage Roll, as well as a glass of non-alcoholic fizz to enjoy as part of their blue carpet debut.
Greggs fans have been calling for the Leicester Square shop to be opened since the tasty Steak Bake hoarding was debuted this April, officially confirming Greggs’ arrival on the Square.
Radio 1 DJ Vicky Hawkesworth also shared her excitement about the London expansion of Greggs – kicking off with the new Leicester Square shop.
The opening of 1 Leicester Square is one of a host of new shops opening in London this year as the Newcastle-based food-on-the-go retailer continues its expansion across the UK. The new shop will also help to create 55 jobs for the local area.
A Greggs spokesperson said: “The opening of our new flagship shop at 1 Leicester Square will be a huge moment as we continue to expand our presence across prime locations in Central London. We’re excited to premiere our delicious menu to new customers, including many tourists from outside of the UK who will get the opportunity to experience Greggs for the first time.”
