Like other luxury brands, Rolex has a global waiting list these days. Therefore, if you have set your heart on purchasing a brand new watch made by the famous Swiss manufacturer, the chances are that you will have to wait unless you have approached an authorised dealer already in the last couple of years. Assuming that you don’t have a time machine that means you can go back to 2020 and get your name on the current waiting list, what can you do if you’d like to own a Rolex this year? Read on to find out.
Choose a Less Popular Model
Although all Rolexes are in demand to some extent, not all of the models that the watchmaker produces today are as sought-after as each other. Therefore, if you don’t want to wait for a new watch, one of the best things you can do is to choose one of the less popular models. Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you will be able to take possession of your Rolex in the next few months. It won’t even mean you will be in a position to avoid Rolex’s next price hike – there has already been one in the course of 2022 so far and many industry experts expect another.
However, if you opt for a watch that the dealerships can actually get their hands on – as opposed to the numerous watches they’d like to sell you but cannot – then you will be able to start enjoying wearing a Rolex sooner rather than later. Of course, this is something of a compromise so what else can you do to bypass the long waiting list?
Consider Buying a Previously Owned Rolex Watch
The obvious choice if you don’t want to wait for your Rolex luxury watch and don’t want to choose a model that is anything other than the one you truly want to own is to turn to the used market instead. Please note that the after-market for Rolex watches is very extensive indeed. According to a used luxury watch dealer based in Essex, Bonds of Brentwood, there are two types of Rolex you will be able to find that have been previously owned. The first is pre-owned but worn watches. The other is to be found in the unworn second-hand watch market.
Clearly, the latter option is where you will find the most expensive Rolexes because you’ll be buying a watch that was owned by an investor. Such watches are, in effect, as good as new so long as they have all the paperwork to go with them and are in mint condition. However, pre-worn watches can also be a very good option with absolutely no defects whatsoever. If you will be wearing your Rolex, then you can expect it to come into contact with objects from time to time, so ask yourself why buying one that’s been worn before would make any difference to you? After all, every watch that has ever been worn shows some signs of minor wear and ones that already do will depreciate much less from any subsequent use.
