This October, Gymbox announces the launch of its period-proof workout class, Bloody Good Workout, which encourages members to sync training with their cycle, not against it.
The class launches in partnership with period underwear legends, WUKA, and female health experts, The Well HQ, to make sure the workout, the gear and the science are all taken care of.
Research shows menstrual cycles affect women’s performance during workouts. Over 50% of women can’t follow a fitness regime during menstruation, with the top barriers being:
Pain and cramps:
35-50% report taking time off work and things they love due to painful menstrual cramps
Fatigue, tiredness + being uncomfortable: 16% don’t train at the gym at all because of how they feel during their period
Fear of leaking: 81% are anxious about leaking during their period
The Gymbox class uses three different options of strength training cycles to meet women where they are at during their cycle – whether deep in PMS symptoms, lulling in the luteal phase or feeling fiery during the follicular phase.
Often told to be less hormonal or less lethargic, women can now take control of their fitness and use their cycle to improve their workout. Powerlift your PB when you’re feeling hot and ready, or chill with some mat work when you just can’t do another set.
Gymbox continues to lead conversations around periods, performance and mental resilience. The partnership with WUKA and Well HQ will help women feel their best and is hosted at three Gymbox sites in London (so far) – Farringdon, Elephant & Castle and Finsbury Park.
Begin with an educational segment from The Well HQ, which helps members understand how the menstrual cycle can influence both the mind and body. Members can then choose from three styles of strength training designed to align with their energy levels and mood:
Flow Strength – a Pilates-inspired workout that focuses on alignment and control
Tension and Tempo – designed to build muscular endurance and resilience
Dynamic Power – featuring explosive, high-energy movements for days when strength feels unstoppable
This flexible, choice-led approach allows women to check in with their bodies and tailor movement to suit their current energy and needs. The class concludes with a reflective sharing circle, offering space for open conversation about personal experiences and women’s health, fostering both community and body awareness.
Hannah Curtis-Nunn, Product Director at Urban Gym Group adds:
“At Gymbox, we believe empowerment starts with education. Women shouldn’t have to choose between listening to their bodies and pushing their limits – and Bloody Good Workout makes that possible. This class is about giving women the knowledge, tools and confidence to train in sync with their cycle, not in spite of it. It’s bold, it’s science-backed, and it’s a big step forward for how the fitness industry supports women.”
Baz Moffat, Co-founder of The Well HQ:
“Understanding your menstrual cycle is a game-changer for both physical and mental performance. The Bloody Good Workout gives women permission to listen to their bodies, train smarter, and feel stronger through every phase of their cycle.”
Ruby Raut, Founder of WUKA:
“At WUKA, we’ve always believed that your period should never hold you back from doing what you love. Partnering with Gymbox and The Well HQ for the Bloody Good Workout is all about breaking taboos and helping women feel confident, supported, and unstoppable with leak-proof technology they can trust and a community that moves together.”
The Bloody Good Workout invites female members to reconnect with their bodies, build strength throughout every phase of their cycle.
