Since launching his first ever Just Giving donation page in 2006, Epping Forest-based fundraiser, Jon O’Shea, Chairman & Senior Tax Partner at Loughton-based firm Haslers Chartered Accountants, has now surpassed an incredible milestone – raising over £100,000 for various good causes. Over the last 20 years, Jon’s fundraising challenges have taken him far and wide – from local events to globetrotting endurance challenges such as the gruelling 777 challenge (covering an impressive 7 marathons in 7 continents in 7 days).
Every penny Jon has raised over the last two decades has gone directly to charities that support crucial causes. Jon has long been a dedicated supporter of The Dream Factory. The Dream Factory grants dreams to children and young adults between the age of 3 to 25 years, who suffer from life-threatening, life-limiting conditions, have severe disabilities or are sadly having end of life care.
This year one of his fundraising activities saw him pulling out all the stops by undertaking a 24-Hour Endurance challenge, running 2 miles every hour (48 miles in total). For this challenge alone he raised over £5000 for The Dream Factory!
The other fundraising event that Jon has organised so far this year for Haslers Foundation, which includes The Dream Factory, was the Haslers Foundation Annual Quiz Night – held at the West Essex Golf Club. The event saw over 100 attendees, including representatives from local charities and businesses, coming together for a night of fun and fundraising. Written by Jon, quiz questions covered everything from sports and music to cheese and UK service stations! Together with those in attendance the event helped to raise an impressive £7,500 for the Haslers Foundation, who in turn support various charitable causes, one of which is The Dream Factory. The Haslers Foundation have also previously supported The Dream Factory with various donations to cover the costs of several dreams of those facing serious illness. Through all his challenges, Jon remains focused on his mission: to give back and make a difference. His story is one of perseverance, resilience, and an unshakable drive to help those in need.
Avril Mills BEM, Honorary Freeman of The Borough of Redbridge, Founder & Trustee of The Dream Factory Children’s Charity said,
“Jon has now raised over £10,000 for us on his own! He has a heart of gold and tends to put everybody else first, Jon is caring, thoughtful and very charitable person who has now become to me, a good friend, personally I think Jon deserves some sort of award – for the recognition of his amazing charitable contributions and care for others less fortunate”.
When not tackling his next big challenge for charity, Jon also enjoys spending time with his wife, three children and granddaughter.
